Asking Metiq

What you can ask Metiq — the detailed list.

Metiq is the assistant built into the platform. Firm staff meet it in the console chat and on staff WhatsApp; clients meet it on WhatsApp. Every figure Metiq gives is read from your firm’s live records or the cited rule library at the moment you ask — never remembered, never estimated, never invented. If the data isn’t held, Metiq says so plainly. Ask in plain English or Hinglish, the way you would ask a colleague.

Part 1 — for firms

Staff questions, in the console and on staff WhatsApp

1 · Deadlines & workload

“What’s overdue?”

Every filing across the firm that has passed its due date and is still pending, with how many days overdue each one is — the list you work from first thing in the morning.

“What’s due this week?”

The filings falling due in the coming days, grouped so overdue items, this week’s items and later items never blur together.

“Who has not filed GSTR-3B yet?”

The clients who still owe a named form for the current period — works for any tracked form, GST or MCA: GSTR-1, GSTR-3B, AOC-4, MGT-7 and the rest of your calendar.

“Which clients got a notice this month?”

The notices recorded across the firm in the period — which client, what type, and when the reply falls due. Ask “any notice replies due this week?” and the same register answers by deadline instead.

“How many clients do we have?” · “How many filings are pending?”

Live counts from your roster and worklist — clients on the books, filings pending, filed, or overdue.

2 · One client, in depth

“Has Shree Ganesh’s October 3B gone in?”

The exact status of one form for one period: filed, with the date it was filed — or not filed yet, with its due date (and days overdue, if it has slipped).

“What’s pending for Kaveri Agro?”

That client’s outstanding filings in one answer — what is owed, for which periods, and by when.

“Show me Kaveri Agro’s filing history.”

The periods the client has filed, form by form — the record behind a status question, a lender query or a new-client takeover.

“What notices has Kaveri Agro received?”

That client’s recorded notices — type, issue date, reply due and status — from the same register the console’s Notices page keeps. If none are recorded, Metiq says exactly that.

“Kaveri Agro ka GST number kya hai?”

Facts straight from the client’s record: GSTIN, PAN, CIN or LLPIN, constitution, state, GST filing frequency (monthly or QRMP) and the contact on file. Hinglish works exactly like English.

3 · Documents you are chasing

“What documents do we need from Kaveri Agro?”

The documents that client still owes you for their upcoming filings, grouped Overdue, Due within 7 days and Later — so the chase list is already prioritised.

“Which documents are still awaited across the firm?”

The same picture firm-wide: every outstanding document request, grouped by urgency, so nothing sits forgotten in one client’s file.

“Can I upload a document right here in the chat?”

Yes — attach a PDF, a photo or an Excel file with the 📎 Attach button under the message box. Name the client in the same message, or let Metiq detect the client from the document itself; if the name and the document disagree, it asks once before filing anything. Excel spreadsheets (.xlsx / .xls) are stored as received on every door — chat, console and WhatsApp.

4 · GST reports, return checks & reconciliation (CA & Combo suites)

“Do we hold October’s 2B for Shree Ganesh?”

Whether the report for that client and period is in the vault — and when the answer is no, a button that takes you straight to that client’s Reports tab to fetch it.

“Check Shree Ganesh’s October returns.”

The return checks for the month: GSTR-1 sales against the GSTR-3B, and the ITC claimed in the 3B against the ITC on suppliers’ reported invoices in the GSTR-2B — each answered as matches, or the exact difference in rupees.

“Tally our October purchases against 2B for Shree Ganesh.”

The invoice reconciliation summary for the month: how many invoices matched, where the value differences are, the ITC sitting in the 2B that isn’t in your books yet, and the ITC in your books that suppliers haven’t reported.

“Which invoices are in the 2B but not in our books?”

The invoice-level list behind any reconciliation number — supplier, invoice number, date and tax — for the unbooked and at-risk buckets alike. (Importing the purchase register and exporting the workpaper happen in the console; Metiq runs the reconciliation itself the moment you ask.)

“What was Shree Ganesh’s October 3B liability?”

The figures inside a report you hold: the 3B’s liability by tax head, the ITC it claimed, how the tax was paid (through ITC vs in cash); a GSTR-1’s totals; a 2B’s ITC on suppliers’ reported invoices — each figure named with the table it came from. If the report is held only as a PDF, Metiq says so plainly instead of guessing at its numbers.

“Is Shree Ganesh’s GSTR-9 ready?” · “What’s missing for it?” · “Why is Table 8D negative?” · “Which clients are ready for GSTR-9?”

The annual return workpaper, read live: whether the GSTR-9 preparation is ready, in review or still in draft; exactly which periods’ reports are still missing from the vault; Table 8D with the months driving it when it runs negative; and which guided inputs (the splits and confirmations only your firm can give) are still open. If no workpaper has been opened for the client yet, Metiq says so and points you to the client’s Reports tab. Asked firm-wide — “which clients are ready?” — Metiq answers across the firm instead: who has filed, who is ready, who is still in preparation (and how many gaps remain), and who has not started.

5 · Directors & DSC (CS & Combo suites)

“Whose DSC expires soon?”

Directors across your client companies whose digital signature certificates expire within the next 30 days — plus any that have already expired — so renewals are arranged before a filing is blocked.

“When does Rajesh Tiwari’s DSC expire?”

The recorded expiry date for one director’s DSC, from the client’s director record.

“Who are the directors of Vindhya Agro?”

The directors in office for that company — name, DIN, designation and appointment date, with each one’s recorded DSC expiry shown alongside — straight from the client’s director register.

“When is Vindhya Agro’s next board meeting?” · “Are the AGM minutes signed?”

The meeting’s type, date and recorded state (draft, noticed, held) from the client’s meeting register — and for minutes, whether the signed minutes are on record or still outstanding, firm-wide if you ask “which minutes are still unsigned?”. If nothing is recorded, Metiq says exactly that.

6 · Rules, penalties & extensions

“What’s the penalty if GSTR-3B for October 2026 is filed 10 days late?”

The late fee worked out for that form and period — ₹50 a day, so ₹500 for 10 days — with the interest rule alongside, cited to the Act section it comes from. Follow up with “what if it was quarterly instead?” and Metiq switches to the QRMP position for the same months, naming the position it used.

“When is GSTR-3B due?”

The due date for the form — monthly or quarterly position, state group taken into account — from the rule library, with its source.

“Which of my clients does the GSTR-3B due-date extension affect?”

When a CBIC or MCA extension is on record, the clients on your roster whose deadlines actually move, with the new due date for each — only the deadlines the extension genuinely changes, matched to the filing position it applies to.

7 · How-to guides & circulars

“How do I file GSTR-9?” · “What documents are needed for AOC-4?”

Step-by-step guides from the built-in process library — 70+ filings and procedures across GST, income tax, TDS and MCA — with prerequisites, the exact steps, and the console pages involved.

“What does the latest CBIC circular say about …?”

Answers from the curated circular library, always with the citation named, so your team can open the source. If the library doesn’t cover it, Metiq says that plainly instead of guessing — an honest “not covered” beats a confident invention.

7a · Guided flows — every process, step by named step

“What’s the next step?” — guided flows

Every GST process Metiq guides — the monthly cycle, the annual GSTR-9 cycle, a notice from arrival to closed, a new client from GSTIN to first filing, document chasing — is a chain of named steps, and every step is labelled by who does it: Metic’s step, your firm’s step, or the client’s step. Ask about any step, by name, and Metiq answers at that step: what it is, whose it is, what “done” looks like, and the next step by name.

The buttons under an answer — does tapping one make Metiq do things on its own?

No. Metiq suggests the next step; it never runs ahead on its own. The next step appears as a tappable button under the answer, labelled with the step’s name — tapping it is you asking for that step, and only then does Metiq do it (where the step is Metiq’s: a check, a reconciliation, a workpaper, a readiness read). Where the next step is yours or the client’s, Metiq names it as yours — and names the step after it that Metiq can do, so you always know where you stand. When a process genuinely forks — record a notice by hand, or from its PDF — two buttons appear, one per path; never more.

“Where are we in Sharma’s October cycle?” — answers that start from your actual position

For the monthly cycle and the invoice reconciliation, Metiq reads the client’s live position before answering: which documents are still awaited, which reports are already in the vault, what is filed and what is not. The answer opens with that position — “the 2B is in; the purchase register isn’t” — and the next step it names is the one your position actually calls for, not the start of a generic checklist. Nothing is guessed: if Metiq can’t see the state, it says so.

Can I start in the middle of a process?

Yes — that is the point. You don’t have to begin at step one or repeat context. Name the step you’re on (“we’ve uploaded the register — what next?”), or the outcome you’re looking at, and Metiq picks the flow up from there. The same named steps, in the same words, are what a future automated flow would follow — the map is the contract.

8 · Good to know — the firm side

How does filing AOC-4 / MGT-7 work in Metiq?

In six named steps. Record the AGM — closing its minutes re-bases the due dates (AOC-4 in 30 days, MGT-7 / MGT-7A in 60). Collect the papers — Metiq chases the client on WhatsApp. Build the packet — a checked data sheet from the client’s registers, with every gap named. Pre-fill the MCA form — the helper types the packet’s values into the portal form, in your browser. Review, DSC-sign and submit — yours, on the portal. Record the SRN — the deadline then files itself. Ask Metiq “how do I file AOC-4” and it walks the same steps with you.

What do I still do myself?

The steps that carry your professional signature: logging into the MCA portal (captcha and OTP included), reviewing the pre-filled form, DSC-signing and submitting. That split is by design — Metiq prepares, checks, chases and pre-fills; the filing itself is always yours.

Does Metiq file returns on the portals?

No — and by design. Metiq reads, checks and answers; your team reviews and files, the way the rest of the platform works. When an answer needs an action in the console, Metiq links you to the exact page.

Can Metiq fetch reports from the GST portal, or import my purchase register?

Fetching is the download helper’s job, through your own signed-in portal session; importing a register is a console action with a dry-run check. Metiq will tell you which page does it and link you there — then run the checks and reconciliation on the result the moment you ask.

Can one firm’s staff see another firm’s data through Metiq?

Never. Every answer is composed only from the asking firm’s own records; a client name from another firm’s roster is simply not found.

Is Metiq only for CA and CS firms?

Metiq is built for CA and CS firms; the GST side is also built for tax lawyers and GST litigation practices — notices, appeals, drafting and client document chasing are covered by the CA suite.

Part 2 — for clients

Client questions, on WhatsApp

Clients never open the console. They ask Metiq in the same WhatsApp chat where the firm already sends reminders and document requests — and Metiq answers only about their own record, only to the one number the firm registered for them.

9 · Your filing status

“Has my GSTR-3B been filed?”

A straight answer from the firm’s records: filed, with the date — or not yet, with the due date. Works for any of your filings the firm tracks, in English or Hinglish (“Meri GSTR-3B file hui kya?”).

“What is pending for me?”

Your outstanding filings and their due dates — nothing about any other client, ever.

10 · Documents your firm still needs

“What documents do you still need from me?”

The exact list the firm is waiting on, so a missing bank statement or invoice is fixed in one reply — send the photo or PDF right there in the chat.

11 · Your filed reports

“Send me my GSTR-3B.”

Your filed report arrives as a PDF in the chat, named with the form, the month and your business name. If the firm doesn’t hold that report yet, Metiq says so honestly rather than sending anything else.

12 · Good to know — the client side

Why does Metiq only answer from my registered number?

Your filing record is private. Metiq answers the one WhatsApp number your firm registered for you; from any other number it can’t see your record at all. Ask your firm to update the number if yours changes.

Can I ask Metiq for tax advice, or about another business?

No. Metiq answers status questions about your own filings and documents. Advice, planning and anything about another client stays with your CA or CS — Metiq will point you back to the firm.

Can I send a voice note?

Please type your question for now — voice notes aren’t understood yet. A typed line in English or Hinglish gets an immediate answer.
